I currently live in the heart of the beautiful Lunigiana region on Northern Tuscany, in Italy , but grew up in the valley of York in North Yorkshire.
I have always loved to draw and paint, and credit my artistic gift from my Grandmother, Lana Howard. An artist most of her life, she was self-taught and enjoyed painting still life portraits and also wildlife. She was a great artist who gave her paintings away to friends and family. Lana also was a sign writer, who designed the logo’s for Lyons amongst many others.
My love of art started when I was a child, I painted mainly still life pictures in pencil and other mediums. I began painting in 2000 with a local group of amateurs in York. Acrylic is my favorite media although I work with charcoal, pastel, colored pencil and mixed media. I have never had formal art classes but have learned from practise and am still learning with every painting I do. I feel that every painting is a learning experience and hopefully can grow from each one.
My favorite subjects to paint are Portraits; I love bringing my canvas to life through the eyes and personality of the medium. I can do commissions painted from photograph or from life, and I also paint portraits of celebrities musicians, actors and the like.

A person who works with their hands and brain is a craftsman…
A person who works with their hands, their brain and their heart is an Artist”
